Provide That Cold Stuff in your office and watch productivity soar!

Let's be honest, many of us simply cannot function without that cup of morning coffee. So that's why it may be worth considering having That Cold Stuff in your office, or kitchen.

No matter if you are an entry-level employee, business owner or CEO of the world’s biggest corporation, getting that boost of caffeine keeps you productive and happy. There are also some other benefits of having That Cold Stuff in your fridge that you may not know about yet!

Productivity

Let’s begin with the most obvious one. Caffeine does a great job of keeping people awake and alert throughout the day, and the most available, and some would argue tastiest, the source of caffeine is coffee.

Since we are only human, our mental alertness declines throughout the day, even when we get 8 hours of sleep. The most common times during the day to feel fatigued are 10 AM and 2 PM, or when our breakfast/lunch begins to digest.

At these times our brains release adenosine, a chemical which makes us feel tired. Adenosine binds to certain receptors in our brain to make us feel that way, but caffeine bonds to those same receptors.

So, no matter how much sleep or how much we’ve had to eat, drinking coffee will ‘trick’ our bodies into not feeling fatigued.

Improved mood

Caffeine also affects the release of dopamine and serotonin in our brains. Much the same as sex and chocolate, these two chemicals make us feel good, and studies show that when we see or experience something that makes us happy, both dopamine and serotonin are released.

So, if you or one of your co-workers are not feeling great, head on over to your office fridge and reach for a pouch of That Cold Stuff for a mood lift.

In fact, a Harvard study concluded that women who drink 4 or more cups of coffee per day are 20% less likely to develop depression. Hows that for science :)

Networking

We all know the expressions ‘coffee talk’ and ‘coffee break’, as they have become almost ingrained into the modern culture. What we may not realize is just how important the few minutes we take with co-workers over that cup of coffee.

Spending time with your co-workers or employees helps to build relationships, making work feel less like work. When we feel emotionally close to our team, we tend to work harder for the group.

The informal feeling of the coffee break also relaxes people, and when we are relaxed we tend to think more clearly. It is now believed that allowing yourself a coffee break will yield better ideas at work.

Ethical behaviour

Fostering good relations is tangentially related to this next item. When humans feel close to the people at work they not only work harder, but they find it easier to act ethically.

When we feel like part of a group, instead of being an individual in a loose collective, it is easier to feel more responsible for our actions, resulting in more honest behaviour.

Also, feeling fatigued makes it more difficult to do everything, including being honest with the people around us and acting in the group’s best interests instead of our own.

Fewer accidents

This one is fairly straight-forward; the more tired a person is, the more likely they are to make a mistake. We all know that ‘2 o’clock feeling’ where everything we do is difficult, and it even feels hard to keep our eyes open.

That makes it very difficult to do your job right the first time. Not only does it slow things down, but if you are in a ‘B2C’ (business to customer) industry, it also makes the entire company look bad.

Keeping caffeine handy will allow your co-workers or employees to exceed expectations time and time again.

Healthier living

In the modern office, it can be difficult to get your daily exercise, as most of us work at a computer and aren’t required to move around throughout the day. As you already know that is very unhealthy.

Naturally, you want your office family to stay healthy, but there is another great reason to have an That Cold Stuff in the fridge. When workers are stationary for too long, their productivity drops, as does their morale.

If coffee is available, they will be able to move around and break the monotony of the daily grind. They will be happier to get that little bit of exercise, and therefore the mood in the office will improve.

No matter if you are responsible for a team, a company or just yourself, having coffee on hand can yield great results… feel better, get along better, act more honestly, have fewer accidents and of course stay healthy.
